Early 20th C 1920s Eizo Kato (1906-1972) Signed, Japanese Watercolor Painting We are offering... A charming watercolor painting of a Japanese small town cityscape in beautiful orange hues. The watercolor on paper is signed by Japanese artist Eizo Kato and is matted & framed. We estimate this painting to be dated 1920s (early 20th Century) Eizo Kato was born in Japan in 1906.A leading figure in the nihonga style, Eizo Kato's father was a lacquer ware merchant. Kato studied at the Tokyo Fine Arts School where he began entering competitions and winning awards. Though many of his works were lost during air raids on Gifu, a museum has opened in his home town dedicated to his work and that of his brother, Toichi Kato. Approx.
