Antique 19th c. 1868-1911 German Hanau Dingeldein Silver Tea Caddy, Repousse

We are offering...

An ornate hanau silver tea caddy adorned with a repousse gathering of people, paying instruments, dancing, & enjoying themselves below a tree. The top cap is also decorated with musicians, as well as folks picking fruit (daily activities). Tea caddy has a cylindrical neck & slide down cylindrical cap. The piece is likely made by Gebruder Dingeldein somewhere between 1868-1911, prior to his merge with Karl Kurz.

Founded in 1868 by brothers Friedrich Otto and Freidrich Wilhelm Dingeldein. Friedrich Otto's son August Ernst Dingeldein was their successor, and married Margarethe Kurz, the daughter of Karl Kurz, which is how the Dingeldein and Kurz companies came to be merged in 1911.
