Of a highly detailed well dressed Monkey with a red tail
wearing a burden basket to be filled with matches.
Match Safe's & Holders date to the Mid 19th c.
when friction matches were first introduced.
Used at home to light a stove or fireplaces
and kept on tabletops to light cigars or pipes.
The Monkey, Basket & Stand are of a high quality,
and beautifully detailed. Very good age-related
condition.
