This is a very rare 1956 Votive Illustration on Paper,
depicting a violent shooting scene, in which a man has fallen victim
to a gunshot, with the shooter still in the doorway holding the gun.
The woman is seen on the right side praying to her shrine for the
Virgen de San Juaninto (Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos).

This piece is executed with paint, ink, and pencil. It is really an amazing piece of
mexican Folk art, and reminds us to be grateful for everyday we have alive.

The text translated reads:

"Martina Rivera gives thanks to the Santisima Virgen De San Juanito for
the favor of saving the life of Alfonzo Carillo, 15th of June of 1956,
Ahualulco Jalisco"

The bottom right corner shows this text written again, and partially cut off,
as if it was redone by the artist for clarity in the top left corner.

Approx. Dimensions:
Height: 13 1/2"
Width: 9 3/4"

Condition: In good age related condition, some scuffs to surface, some losses to the edges.
