This charming still life in a natural floral setting with bird's nest , signed very faintly and dates circa 19thc The brush strokes are of the highest quality in style of technique and application upon the prepared canvas, small details adding to the depth and emotion evoked from within a still life setting.

In a way, there is somewhat of a narrative of a bird's nest, hidden amongst the foliage of the forest, the bird having flown away to give itself a new beginning. What remains are the blue eggs and the life it left behind.

This is an original oil painting on canvas created on an English imported canvas. The frame is not the original, although the Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts period style is well suited to this painting.

Signed A. Peck, for Anna Christa Peck, died in San Diego, California, 1944.

The canvas is faintly stenciled "Prepared by Windsor Newton 38 Rathbone Place, London."
