20th Century Oil Painting "Adobe at San Juan Capistrano" by William Payne

We are offering...
A serene 20th century oil painting by William Payne, depicting a withered California adobe with a neutral color palette. The painting is signed by the artist on the bottom left corner. William Payne was a Southern California artist working in the early and mid-20th century and was known for his landscapes. He was featured in exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Fair and National Orange Show in San Bernardino. Payne was a member of the San Bernardino Chapter of the Traditional Artists of America and a past president of San Bernardino Art Association in 1936. As well a long time Santa Fe Railroad employee and shop foreman from 1917-1952.

Approx. Dimensions:
frame: 23 3/4" x 30"
canvas: 18" x 24"

Condition:
There are two depressions into the canvas (one in the center of the painting and another near the top left corner). There is some rubbing around the edges from the frame. But overall the painting remains beautiful.
