We are offering an original Spanish baroque still life oil on canvas painting from the 17th or 18th century, in the style of Juan de Arellano. It is signed in the bottom right corner, but the signature is illegible (faded with age).
The back of the canvas appears to have remnants of another painting. The stretcher was replaced (appears to be from the 19th century) and the gilt frame is likely from the 19th or early 20th century.
Provenance: This painting belonged to Adolfo López Mateos, the President of Mexico from 1958 to 1964. We acquired it from his daughter, Elena López Mateos who wrote the note "These items sold to Randy are items that belonged to my father, the Mexican ex President Adolfo López Mateos. The paintings and other items were gifted to my mother as wedding presents from my father, the president."
