A wonderful Civil War era American Watch Co. Pocket Watch, in an interesting coin silver case, with un-monogrammed decoration on front and a stylish greek key decoration on the edge. Chain is older and marked with a lion passant on every link indicating that it is sterling silver. Interesting winged fob is also marked with an early 1900 date letter and lion passant. Other fob is likely victorian, and also silver. Watch is 15 jewel and size 18. It ismodel 1857 but made in 1863, as the serial number indicates (64553)
Dial says American Watch Co. across front, with roman numerals. Inside of the case reads:
"A.M. Watch Co.
Waltham.
Mass
H247"
H247 is also on the inside of both covers on the movement side of the case.
Movement is engraved with:
"Appleton, Tracy & Co.
64553
Waltham Mass. "
Condition:
In good age related condition, runs well and keeps time. Has some scuffs and minor dents throughout from use and age. Has original mechanisms, and original case & glass. Very hard to see hairline crack on dial at 11th hour. Please see all photos for complete description.
