We are offering a Nippon Moriage Vase, featuring a hand-painted scene of peaceful swans on a marshland lake, created circa 1911-1921. This piece stands out because of its rare and intricate quadruple-handle configuration. Most moriage vases on the market are double-handle. The neck, handles, and footed base are heavily accented with detailed, raised slip-moriage beadwork.

Condition: This over 100-year-old vase is in good age-related condition with no structural damage. There is some light wear from age. There are some light spots of paint loss on the raised relief borders. There is a light, superficial grey graphite-like streak on the reverse scenic sky background. Two small, localized brown spots are visible on the upper body (typical of period production firing or natural oxidation over time). The interior shows natural discoloration and surface residue consistent with age and use as a flower vase. This appears to be superficial staining that can be cleaned if desired. We have chosen to leave this historical piece uncleaned to preserve the authentic matte glaze finish and hand painting. PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS!
