A Rare & Beautiful Rookwood  "Lily of the Valley" Vase
by well known Rookwood artist, Charles (Carl) Schmidt.

Carl Schmidt joined Rookwood Pottery Co. in 1896
He is known for his beautiful Landscapes, Marine and Floral Designs.
He left Rookwood in 1927.

This lovely vase was manufactured in 1910, Cincinnati, Oh.
 Iris Glazed Ceramic # 949, 
Introduced by Rookwood in the fall of 1894, 
the Iris Glaze was an important and most successful line for Rookwood. 
Named after the iris plant, because of its luminous character.

Impressed marks : 

             W for the Color
             D for the size
            The Carl Schmidt mark 

            Rookwood Mark with date 1910.

Dimensions:  9" x 3" approximate

Condition:
In good original unrestored condition with 2 vertical fine age cracks 
on opposite sides of the mouth of the vase, due to the glassy nature of the
Iris Glaze there is crazing.
