This work was fashioned brilliantly with perfect use of light and dark contrasts. This genre
painting depicts the men and boys at task; the artist captured a moment in time with
honor and grace. The muscled plow horses are skillfully developed as they are directed;

This painting remains vibrant and bold. There are no tears or pinholes. This painting was
probably cleaned and varnished about 100 years ago. The frame is of the period and is
in original age-related condition, the gilding is tarnished and foxed.
