George Howell Gay was well known for his watercolor landscapes and seascapes, mostly along the shores of New England. Pupil of Paul Brown an Henry Elkins, Chicago.
George Howell Gay exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1890; Boston Art Club, 1890 - 1900; and Boston Art Club, 1897.
He died in New York in 1931.
Unusually, this painting retains it's original frame & matte.

Condition:
In great, original condition. The original frame and mat showing signs of age. Very slight toning to the paper. The wisps of grey in the sky are clouds...not smudges. The back has been resealed and a new picture wire provided.
