Late 18th C. Georgian Sterling Silver Bougie Box with Handle & Tray, Rare

$1,350.00
Shipping calculated at checkout.
A very rare, Georgian Bougie Box on a chamberstick holder.
It has a wonderful pierced design, showing the coiled taper candle inside.
The hinged lid has a hole at the top where the candle can be pulled through.

This design is very rare, and we could not find other bougie boxes or wax jacks
that had the hand and tray. There are no monograms on this piece.
This possibly could have been used as a chamberstick

The piece is marked on the underside with London silver Marks,
dating it to 1799. It is marked WB, attributing it to William Bennett,
a London Silversmith registered in 1796. It is also marked on the
inside of the hinging lid.

Condition:
Good original condition, rim of tray has slightly separated, small dent on foot.
See photos for complete description.
