Two Early 19th C. Neapolitan Painted Cloth & Wood Peasant Figures, Grand Tour
These wonderful pieces are highly detailed, with their faces showing personality.
They are "pastori" sculptures, or depictions of peasants that were popular
in 19th century Italy. These are likely a grand tour pieces.
The woman is carrying a burden bag over her head and back. The man is
carrying a water pail. They are both mounted onto carved wooden bases.
They are in very good original condition for being in the first part of the century.
They both has minor losses to fingers and various paint losses
on the fabric. both are in good age related condition.
